Guest speaker Cindy Sorensen from the Peace Corps at the Faculty of Foreign Languages

On April 24, 2014 at the FON University, Skopje the guest speaker Cindy Sorensen, a Peace Corps Volunteer in Macedonia,   discussed how to ask questions and develop critical thinking in her talk entitled “When a Question is a Question”. The students and faculty members at FON University attended the lecture.

Presenter’s short Bio: Cindy Sorensen, from Denver, Colorado is one of Peace Corps newest members located in Bitola and works at YMCA Bitola. She is a life-long learner with degrees and certificates in psychology, social work, fund raising, coaching, leadership, and holistic nutrition. In addition, Cindy volunteers regularly, has raised three sons, and has moved 26 times, now 27!

Cindy’s most recent work was with the University of Denver in the Graduate School of Social Work where she managed, supported, and mentored MSW students and community agency internships.  Prior to that, Cindy spent 25 years working for national disease related NGOs providing consultation, leadership, management, volunteer engagement, board development, training, coaching, program development, evaluation, and patient services.

Cindy has been an active member of her community volunteering with Destination Imagination, an international youth program teaching creative problem solving skills; Denver Community Resource Center, a Colorado non-profit resource center, coaching and teaching communication skills and non-profit management courses; National Association of Social Work, a professional membership organization, as vice-president of the Board; National Diabetes Association in fund raising; and with her church as their youth group leader.
